The Outdoor Channel’s Renovation Hunters Tionesta Cottage Trimmed With Baird Brothers Products

The final project for the first season of The Outdoor Channel’s Renovation Hunters, the Tionesta Cottage, featured Baird Brothers’ shiplap interior siding, barn siding, casings, baseboards, mouldings, interior doors, countertops, and exclusive products just for the show!

Renovation Hunters Season 3 is Here!

Tionesta Getaway Gets Upgrade

As a leading product provider, Baird Brothers Fine Hardwoods was an integral part of the new renovation show’s third project. Before selecting the property in Tionesta, Pennsylvania, Steve Stack from Baird Brothers, host Hal Shaffer and general contractor Kevin Tarkovich walked through the 800-square-foot vacation cottage shared by 14 family members.

Seeing the property first-hand made it even easier to choose the exact fine hardwood products that would elevate the ’70s getaway while honoring its original charm. Out of the three home improvements completed throughout Renovation Hunters’ first season, the Tionesta Cottage had the most Baird Brothers products installed.

Baird Brothers products – from shiplap siding, casings and baseboards to barn siding, interior doors, countertops, and exclusive exterior siding – were key components in bringing the property back to life.

Products Used in the Tionesta Cottage

Baird Brothers’ natural hardwoods were featured heavily throughout the interior – and exterior – of the Renovation Hunters project, highlighting the connection to nature.

The western Pennsylvania cottage included the most wood products of all three projects featured in season one of the new series. Natural hardwoods elevated the look of the decades-old cabin while preserving the home’s history. The homeowners, the Lutz family, love to fish, hunt and spend time outside, so including natural resources within the cottage was a great way to connect with the outdoors from the inside.

Baird Brothers Fine Hardwoods custom mouldings were used throughout the home, including primed poplar shiplap interior siding, knotty ponderosa pine barn siding, primed poplar casings, baseboards, shoe mouldings, rafter mouldings, poplar S4S lumber, wood shims, custom interior doors (and hardware), and character grade hickory plank style countertops.

Family-Focused Home Improvement

When the Lutz family submitted their 800-square-foot getaway cottage in the Tionesta area, they had no idea they’d get selected — let alone be so impressed with the final outcome. There were two non-negotiables when it came to renovating the home: grandpa’s chair and grandma’s sign. Renovation Hunters incorporated the two family heirlooms into the inclusive interior design remodel to honor the family’s history while preparing the home for years to come.

The cottage, located in Tionesta, Pennsylvania, is surrounded by Warren, Elk, Jefferson, Venango, and Clarion Counties. During the renovation, the entire area fully embraced the Renovation Hunters’ crew of craftsmen and DIY-ers – neighbors welcomed the team every morning, and a family even opened up their own home to the crew to use as a break room and rest area. Far from the hustle and bustle of bigger cities like Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, the community in Tionesta was close to the project and proud to see the TV show take place in their hometown.
